Description:
Epinard was a leading colt of his generation in France, perhaps even in the world at that time, at his optimum distance of just over a mile. Winner of 12 races, he was the Champion French 2 year old, and was only just beaten in the Cambridgeshire Handicap, giving away lumps of weight. Epinard was then taken to America where he was runner-up in all his 3 international races. He was not deemed a success at stud, although he did sire Rodosto, winner of the French and English 2000 Guineas in 1933.
His name is French for spinach. |
