Description:
Beaten only once in 11 starts, this elegant colt won the Triple Crown and set, at the time, the world record for money earned. His wins were all the more meritorious as Isinglass was a big barrelled and lazy colt , not in love with the prevailing hard going. He therefore won many of his races by small margins. But when it came up soft for the Eclipse Stakes he won in a canter. Isinglass did not live up to expectations as a sire, but then those expectations are always too high when a horse has shown such exceptional racing ability.
