Description:
An imposing chesnut colt with a white blaze on his head and a black cannon-ball shaped spot on his quarters, Bend Or won 10 races including the Derby. He beat Robert the Devil by mere inches thanks to the superb riding of Frederick Archer and then survived an enquiry into the authenticity of his breeding. Bend Or, an absolute gentleman to handle, was runner up in the leading sires' list on two occasions and was twice leading broodmare sire. His best offspring, from his first crop of foals, was the unbeaten Triple Crown winner, Ormonde. |
