Description:

Trenton won eight races in Australia over distances between 6 furlongs and 3 miles, and was twice placed in the Melbourne Cup. He was Champion Sire twice in Australia, and by the second occasion (the 1901/2 season) he had already left the country to stand at William Alison's Cobham Stud in Surrey. He was not as successful a sire in England and on the whole his daughters were more influential than his sons. He sired Rosaline, dam of Rosedrop (Oaks) and grandam of Gainsborough (Triple Crown). His son Torpoint sired Hamoaze, the dam of Buchan, Tamar, Saltash and St Germans, all suucessful in various parts of the world. He also sired Colonial, the grandam of the distinguished American sire Bull Lea.
