Description:

Umidwar, a half-brother to the Oaks winner Udaipur, won four races at 2 and 3 years including his only start as a back end juvenile. His Classic season was blighted by an injury to his hock and after finishing fifth in the 2000 Guineas and down the field after starting second favourite in the Derby, he was placed in the Eclipse Stakes and won a two-horse race at Goodwood. By the Autumn he had ground conditions in his favour and was successful in the Jockey Club Stakes and Champion Stakes at Newmarket.

Umidwar was retired to stud after failing twice as a four-year-old and, whilst he never sired the winner of a Classic, he got some good staying offspring. His daughter Monsoon won twice and was dam of Festoon (1000 Guineas).
