Dates & jockeys of important wins:

1000 Guineas
1923  Edward Gardner
St Leger
1923  Thomas Weston

Description:

Half-sister to Selene (who was to become the dam of Hyperion), Tranquil won eight races including the 1000 Guineas as a favourite should. Again favourite for The Oaks, she failed badly after being shut in so was sent to the Wantage gallops of Charles Morton for a change of scenery and better going. The plan worked and, ridden by Thomas Weston, she won the St Leger, unexpectedly beating the Derby winner Papyrus.

Tranquil was a fine big mare but much less successful at stud than her small half-sister Selene. However she bred three winners of seven races.
