Description:
Winkipop won ten races at 2 and 3 years and was placed six times. The filly was a daughter of Lord Astor's foundation mare, Conjure, a moderate racer who won a selling plate at Alexandra Park as a two year old and was sold for 200 guineas.
Winkipop was dam of two winners in England, including Plymstock (three races and dam of an Oaks winner) and Blink (Princess of Wales's Stakes, second in the Derby and third in the 2000 Guineas). By 1927 Winkipop had not produced a live foal for nine years and was sold to America (covered by Tanfiers but barren again) and died there in 1931.
It has been stated that Winkipop bred a horse called Twink in the USA; this horse was in fact by Blink out of a different mare. |
