Description:

Lord Furness was founder of the Gilltown Stud at Kilcullen in Co. Kildare. He became a very well-known vendor of yearlings whose knowledge of bloodlines was second to none. In addition to the three English Classic winners Salmon Trout, Orwell and Kingsway, Lord Furness also bred the unbeaten Irish Triple Crown winner Windsor Slipper.

Lord Furness was created a Viscount in 1919. He was joint master of the York and Ainsty Hounds in 1912 and hunted the pack single-handedly for five years after World War I.
