David Browning, a JP and a Sheriff of Co Limerick, bred horses on the Knockaney Stud belonging to his brother Francis. Amongst the good horses he bred were Portlaw (top two-year-old and sprinter), Disarmament (Cambridgeshire Handicap) and Forerunner (Wokingham Handicap).
