Description:

The unplaced favourite for Spearmint's 1906 Derby, Lally had such 'in and out' form that in the same season in which he was unable to win an apprentice event at Lingfield, he took the prestigious Eclipse Stakes and the Royal Hunt Cup. The horse was however campaigned by the Druid's Lodge 'confederacy', a great gambling concern, and this could well explain the inconsistency of his form. He left only one good horse behind him (By George!, a top two-year-old and sire of the dam of Windsor Lad), before his export to Italy where he did well as a sire.
