Description:

Lord Clonmell, who succceeded to the title in 1898, was educated at Eton and was a Captain in the Royal Horse Artillery. He unsuccessfully contested the Warwickshire Rugby Division as a Liberal in 1910.

The best horse he bred (and a half-brother to Gentle Shepherd) was Ouadi Halfa, winner of the French 2000 Guineas in 1907.
