Dates & jockeys of important wins:

Derby
1928  Harry Wragg

Description:

Felstead was entered for the Derby but no-one could imagine his running in it, let alone winning, after four juvenile runs yielding a moderate second place at Chepstow. However, the colt improved by leaps and bounds as a three-year-old, winning his maiden at Newbury with ease, finishing just out of the places in the 2000 Guineas and running second over 7 furlongs at Epsom, a distance far too short for him. There was a hotpot in the Derby, the 3/1 favourite Fairway, but he was mobbed before the race, boiled up and his chance was gone. Others ran themselves to a standstill, but Felstead, whose forte was stamina, was able to score by 1 1/2 lengths.

During his preparation for the St Leger the horse threw a splint which spelled the end of his racing career. At stud he got two Classic winning fillies, Rockfel and Steady Aim.
