Johnstone, Frederic John William (Sir) (1841 - 1913)

Description:

Sir Frederic Johnstone's horses were mostly owned in a partnership with Lord Alington, called 'The Old Firm', but usually carried Sir Frederic's colours, chocolate, yellow sleeves. The pair had their horses trained by the Day family but transferred all their horses to John Porter in 1881. Sir Frederic, who sat as MP for Weymouth between 1874 and 1885, was a shrewd and heavy gambler on the turf.
