Description:

Beppo was bred by Francis Luscombe, who had won the 1895 Cambridgeshire Handicap with his sire Marco. Carrying the colours of James de Rothschild, Beppo won six races and was placed third in the St Leger. He sired some good progeny, most of them for Alfred Cox, including My Dear (winner of the Oaks), Aleppo (Ascot Gold Cup) and Picaroon. The latter has no Classic on his score sheet but was rated by his trainer, who had produced winners of 21 of them, as the best he ever had in his yard.
