Description:
Paul Nelke, a member of the London Stock Exchange, was born in Berlin in 1860. He had horses with Sam Pickering at Kentford House for nearly thirty years, including the people's favourite, China Cock, and that horse's son, Cockpit, winner of the Royal Hunt Cup. His Outram won the Lincoln Handicap; Defiance, the Stewards' Cup; and Lagos, the Jockey Club Cup.
Paul Nelke also had jumpers with trainer Robert Gore, the best of them being Mount Prospect's Fortune, winner of the Champion Chase and the Scottish Grand National.
