Description:

Sir John Buchanan-Jardine was head of the firm of Jardine, Matheson & Co, merchants in China, and was a JP for Dumfriesshire. His father, Sir Robert William (the 2nd Baronet), who assumed the second name of Buchanan, bred and raced the 1000 Guineas winner Cinna.

The best horse owned by Sir John was Nothing Venture, trained by Felix Leach, winner of the Ayr Gold Cup and the Wokingham Handicap.
