Gerrard, Thomas (Major) (1866 - )

Breeder (B),  Owner (O)

Also Known As:  Major Thomas Gerrard Collins

Description:

Major Thomas Gerrard was a former 17th Lancer who served in the South African War and in 1917 was High Sherriff of Co. Meath. He was the owner and breeder of Troytown, winner of the 1920 Grand National. If bloodstock students are puzzled by the apparent discrepency in the breeder's name, it should be noted that the Major was the son of Joseph Clarke Collins and later assumed the name of Gerrard by Royal Licence.
