Description:
Son of the trainer James Waugh, and god-child of the great Mathew Dawson, Dawson Waugh as he was universally known spent his early days in the stables of John Porter and then trained in Hungary prior to becoming private trainer to Walter Raphael. Later patrons included Edward Hulton and Lord Howard de Walden. Dawson Waugh was a high class stableman who could get the best from any class of horse. He also promoted his apprentice jockeys, including Joe Sime and Harry Blackshaw.
