Homfray, John Glynn Richards (Captain) (1875 - 1934)

Breeder (B),  Owner (O)

Description:

For many years an officer in the First Life Guards and a keen amateur rider, Captain Homfray mostly raced horses bred by himself, without a great deal of success. The exception, a bought horse, was Land League, the best he ever owned. Land League won 33 races including the Cambridgeshire.

After Captain Homfray's death, his remaining stock was disposed of at the sales. One winning filly, Miss Scrope, was bought by William Barnett, and became dam of the Cesarewitch winner Kerry Piper.
