Walker, John Reid (1855 - 1954)

Breeder (B),  Owner (O)

Description:

An older brother of the turf benefactor and Classic owner /breeder William Wavertree, John Reid Walker was a fine polo player, and owned and bred many good horses, including two Royal Hunt Cup winners, two Chester Cup winners and, best of all, Invershin, who took two Ascot Gold Cups in 1928 and 1929, despite being thought nowhere near the best horse on either occasion. The proud owner proclaimed that he couldn't have been happier had he won the Derby.
