Anthony de Rothschild's wish that 'Palace House at Newmarket be used by the Royal Family when they attended the races' may not have been realised, but the house has been lovingly restored and is well worth a visit in Newmarket.

He won the 1000 Guineas with the outsider Pillion and the Grand Prix de Paris with Galloper Light. Midstream, who ran in Mahmoud's Derby, became a leading sire in Australia.
