Description:

Lord Milford was a shipping magnate who showed no interest in the turf until persuaded almost as an offchance by the trainer Jack Jarvis to buy some yearlings in 1926. The very first selected for him was the colt Flamingo who went on to win the 2,000 Guineas. It was the owner's first and last Classic win, although he had many placed, and owned and bred the versatile Honeyway and Gold Cup winner Flyon.

Lord Milford bought Dalham Hall near Newmarket in 1928 and established his stud there; he was elected to the Jockey Club in 1934.
