Description:
How the 5th Earl of Rosebery must have regretted selling Epsom Lad for 1,050 guineas to James Buchanan (later James Woolavington)! Although the colt (as he then was) had beaten the future Triple Crown winner Diamond Jubilee at Goodwood as a two-year-old, when gelded he improved by leaps and bounds, landing the Eclipse Stakes, Princess of Wales's Stakes and Kempton Park Stakes, beating, at level weights, the best of his era. |
