Description:
If only this horse had not been sold abroad! Dark Ronald never ran in a Classic, but this handsome individual won at two, recuperated from tendon trouble in South Africa at three, and returned at four to land a massive gamble in the Royal Hunt Cup and win the Princess of Wales' s Stakes at Newmarket.
Dark Ronald broke down in the Doncaster Cup and retired to the Tickford Park Stud, where the first mare he covered produced the great stayer Son-in-Law. After three seasons he was sold to Germany, and in that country was an outstanding sire. |
