Description:
Chelandry goes down in turf history as one of the great tap-root mares. Winner of five races herself, including the National Breeders' Foal Stakes and the 1000 Guineas, and runner-up in the Oaks and St Leger, Chelandry then went to stud and produced sixteen foals with never a barren year. The Marco colt she foaled in 1907, won the 2000 Guineas and dead-heated in the Eclipse Stakes - his name was Neil Gow. |
