Description:
The Champion Sire in 1927, thanks mainly to the exploits of his daughter Book Law, Buchan could have been counted as one of the best racers too, had luck gone his way. He was runner-up, only just beaten, in the 2000 Guineas and Derby, and third in the St Leger. Even the Gold Cup at Ascot which fell to him was taken away on disqualification. However, he was successful in two runnings of the Eclipse Stakes, and in the Champion Stakes and the Doncaster Cup. |
