Description:

Beautifully bred, by Son-in-Law out of the 1000 Guineas winner and Oaks runner-up Cinna, Beau Pere won 3 handicaps of no great importance at 4 and 5 years and went to stud in Newmarket on the strength of his pedigree, standing at the paltry sum of 9 guineas. There were so few takers that the horse was sent to the sales where he fetched only 100 guineas. Exported to New Zealand, he was twice Champion Sire there, went on to Australia and then to the USA (with a $100,000 price tag), where he sired the winners of over $1m.
