Pilkington, Thomas (1834 - 1925)

Description:

Thomas Pilkington was a member of the well-known firm of glass manufacturers of the same name. His most famous horse was the St Leger winner Prince Palatine, bought for him as a yearling for only £2,000 as he was an untidy colt and a bad walker. Pilkington sold him to Mr J B Joel (Jack Joel) for £45,000.

Mr Pilkington died in Bournemouth, leaving £688,000.
